I’m Sarah, a UX/UI designer after 14 years in the classroom as an English as a Second Language teacher. I’ve also been designing garments and embroidery patterns since I picked up a sewing needle at 13. I’m excited to bring the experiences I gained working in education and textiles to my designs!
What do language teaching and design have in common? Lots! And that’s why I love both! I love facilitating deep discussions that strike to the core of what people care about. I love researching to uncovering the hidden problems and solutions. I love meeting people from all walks of life and learning about how they experience the world around them. I love collaborating with people to build something bigger than alone. I love breaking barriers to accessibility, barriers of language, skill, education, ability. I love designing things that are people-centered, that make people say, “Yes! That was what I needed!”
When I’m not designing for web interfaces, I’m busy at my sewing machine dreaming up a new dress or connecting with the online sewing community to learn more. How did they make corsets in the 15th century….? Well, I’m off find out.
I’d love to hear from you, so send a message and let’s talk!
